Write your CV in the language the vacancy is written in
The rule of thumb is simple: if the advert is in English, apply in English; if it is in Dutch, apply in Dutch. Applying in Dutch to an English advert is fine, but applying in Dutch when your Dutch is weak can backfire at interview. If you apply in English you can add that a Dutch version is available on request.

- Name a gap yourself in one line, rather than letting them wonder
- A motivation letter is usually expected, especially early in your career
- Two A4 pages maximum, and one page is fine
- Only mention nationality when it actually matters
- Leave out marital status, and you can leave out your date of birth
- A photo is optional, and leaving it off is normal
