Your CV and applying

Never put your BSN on your CV

Your burgerservicenummer does not belong on a CV or in a job application. The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch data protection regulator, is explicit: your BSN is confidential and only becomes relevant once you are actually hired, for the tax authority. An employer is not allowed to keep it from an application, and if it appears by accident they must make it illegible. If a recruiter asks for your BSN before you have a contract, that is a red flag.
