Dental care is NOT covered from age 18 - budget for it or take an add-on
A surprise for many internationals: routine dentist care (check-ups, fillings, cleaning) is fully excluded from the basic insurance once you turn 18, and a check-up plus cleaning can run 100+ eur. Either self-pay or add a dental add-on (aanvullende tandartsverzekering). Under-18s are fully covered, so use it before they age out. Add-ons can involve a check and rarely fully cover big work, so run the math.
