How much you are allowed to work on a student residence permit

On a Dutch student residence permit you may work up to 16 hours a week, or full time during June, July and August. It is one or the other in a year, not both, and your employer needs a work permit (TWV) from the Netherlands Labour Authority before you start. Working more than allowed puts your residence permit at risk, not just your employer's fine. Self-employed work is not capped in hours, but you have to register with the Chamber of Commerce.
