Chain the permits so each unlocks the next cheaply: study (the years count toward national permanent residence), orientation year (open labour market, no employer work permit), knowledge migrant at the 3,122 eur reduced criterion (cheap to sponsor), permanent residence at year 5, then citizenship. Every switch is a change of purpose done from inside NL - you never go home and need no new entry visa (MVV) once you already hold lawful residence. Keep permits continuous and stay registered (BRP).
