How long a probation period is allowed to be

On a temporary contract of six months or shorter, your employer may not agree any probation period at all. On a temporary contract longer than six months but under two years, the maximum is one month. On a contract of two years or longer, and on a permanent contract, the maximum is two months. A collective agreement can set different rules, so check your CAO if one applies to you.
